INSIDE re-styles: a lad pad
Re-styling a space can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to a 'lad pad' - a space that is typically associated with a more stark and masculine aesthetic. However, our recent challenge of revamping a lad pad resulted in stunning and impressive outcomes that left our client in awe.
Our client had recently moved into this spacious unfurnished apartment, and although he had acquired most of the main pieces of furniture, he wanted to inject a touch of sophistication, while maintaining a cool, cozy and calm atmosphere. Our team worked with him to bring this vision to life by incorporating a captivating array of blue hues throughout the space.

The main feature of his living room was a large sofa. We started by removing the chunky back cushions. This simple device works well on a low-backed sofa, and makes sure that you don’t reduce the depth of the sofa when you add cushions of your own. We then replaced them with a selection of cushions and throws from INSIDE in shades of blue, green and black, to complement the sofa and the blinds. We stuck to plain velvet and gently striped woven fabrics, apart from one green floral pattern and the whimsical spot cushion that he already owned. A couple of floor cushions provide extra seating. We repositioned some of the furniture in the room, advised him on where to hang paintings, and debated whether or not to replace the large screen TV with a projector!
Our client enjoys cooking and having friends over for meals, but he felt the black dining table was too stark. With a budget to stick to, we suggested he retain his existing glassware and wooden plates, and to pull it together, we helped him choose some Vietnamese ceramics, added our colourful seagrass placemats, and a couple of chic Sthal serving dishes in thunder colour. With our client’s stunning painting as a back drop, the dining area was quickly transformed into a space which is masculine, sophisticated and fun. We will be working again with him on his rooftop before the summer.

Overall, this project was a great success. The end result was a very happy client, with a space that was both stylish and comfortable, and perfectly suited to his taste and budget. We're thrilled to have been a part of this project, and we look forward to tackling more challenges like this in the future!
